It's all in the rhyme!”   

 

The easiest way to remember the name of the notes on the stave is with a rhyme.

The rhyme always starts on the bottom line.

 

 

The most common rhyme for the notes on the lines is ....
Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge

 

 

The best way to remember the notes in the space is ...
Notes in the space spell F-A-C-E.

 

 

So to work out a note that is on the stave you have to .....

  • Check if it is on the line or on the space
  • Remember the rhyme
  • Say the Rhyme and count up the lines

 

 
Remember to work out the name of a note…..

Check if it is on the line or in the space
This one is in a space.
So notes in the space spell FACE

This is in the 3rd space and it is a C.

 

Check if it is on the line or in the space
This one is on a line.
So -  Every Good Boy DESERVES Fudge

 This is in the 4th line so it is a D.

There are 2 other notes that you will need to learn.

They are ….
 

D – Hangs just below the stave

 

C – Is below the stave with a line though it and looks like a planet.
